Just back from Rome, where some delightful menu translations gave me pause. Not sure whether I was more taken aback by "Dread topped with tomatoes" or "Fried cud"!
Ah yes, menu translations can be a delight indeed... I love reading the English version on French menus, particularly when a menu is seen as a piece of litterature by the restaurant owner "a touch of garlic to spike the provençal atmosphere of the plate"(véridique !)
